I have not yet tried the hot new product Kindle. I love technology as much as the next person, but I'm a little hesitant about getting hyped about Kindle. You see, I love books. I love old books especially. My favorite in my library is a 1937 copy of HD Thoreau's Walden (cup stain and all!).
I don't collect for monetary value, but just 'cause I love them. There is something about the aged pages that fill me with such hope. New adventures. New lessons to be learned. To me there is nothing more exciting than a room full of books. If you walk into someone's home and see books stacked everywhere, what are you going to think? That the person loves to read obviously; perhaps that they are scholarly or enjoys self-education. Well, I may not label myself as scholarly, but I do believe in self-education and I am the "ever learner". How can Kindle compare with that? I may find it to be a fun gadget, but I doubt it will ever come close to creating the feelings of anticipation that accompany the musty smell of the printed page.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who loves the smell of an old book's pages! :) You don't have to worry about your book running out of power either. lol
